Easter Weekend Children's Activities

This Easter Sunday 12 April we have a Children's Easter Egg Hunt at 2pm as well as a colouring competition 11am to 4pm.  Our Carvery lunch will be available 12 - 3pm (booking recommended).  

On Easter Monday children's entertainer Magic Martin is visiting us at 2pm and there will be Face Painting 12 - 4pm.

Annual Brown Willy Run

Congratulations to John Yell who has finished first in this year's Brown Willy Run in a terrific time of just 48 minutes and to Jo Page, the first lady home!  534 brave runners turned out in the drizzle to take part and raise an impressive total of £2490 for local charity Cornwall Search and Rescue - congratulations to you all, to the marshals and to the supporters cheering you on!...

Dozmary Pool

Hope we all got the Dozmary Pool question right on 'Brain of Britain' last week!  It's said to be the final resting place of what?  Dozmary Pool is only about 2.5km away, due south of Jamaica Inn - our local legendary landmark is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Civic Award from Cornwall Council

Jamaica Inn has been presented with a Civic Award by Chairman of Cornwall Council, Mary May, at an official ceremony on 1 May for providing refuge to over a 100 motorists stranded in the snow on the A30 that dreadful night of the snowstorm that hit Cornwall on 31 January.  All bedrooms quickly became full but motorists continued to make for the Inn most of the night and were accommodated...

What a night!  Now we have a second to breathe, here's a debrief of what happened at Jamaica Inn on the 31st January 2019.  Early evening with the snow falling thick and fast we saw the few rooms we had available quickly booked up.  Hearing news of the roads shutting down we set up 15 spare mattresses in our Pedlars restaurant and posted across our social media that anyone stranded ...

Refurb of bars and restaurant completed

A complete refurbishment of the bars and restaurant was finished just in time for Christmas. In lower Pedlars Restaurant we replaced the modern windows with period ones to match those at the front of the Inn, and created a massive old-looking fireplace built in traditional Cornish style – the granite slab mantlepiece alone weighs 1.1 tons and has come from Bradstone Mill near Launceston. Opening times... Jamaica Inn is open from 7.30am, when breakfast is served to hotel guests and visitors, right through to midnight with dinner being served up to 9pm. The Museums are open from 8am to 9pm throughout the year and the Gift Shop and Farm Shop are open every day with times varying.
